Maneuver your tank to find the enemy’s weak-spot while trying to keep your own tank’s vulnerabilities from being exposed. In the largest mechanized battle of all time, you can command your tank crew in both single-player and multiplayer environments and battle the enemy in intense missions and grueling combat. Drive some of WWII’s greatest battle tanks in close quarters ground combat during the Battle of Kursk, namely in the Prokhorovka sector.

So I wont complain and will just use my "craptroller" for now.A new ground-breaking tank simulator by the team that brought you IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad. If the stick is $100 USD it would be almost $170 NZ and then shipping would kill me. Right now because of the NZ's dollar against the American dollar it would cost me almost twice as much to buy it. I would buy me a joystick but I rather wait to get mine. I got me some skins and I look pretty good lol. Right now I am flying as a RNZAF pilot with my P40. I lead him a bit and put a nice quick burst into the "yellow target" (his engine) and am rewarded with a nice cloud of black smoke lol. I can take out an ME-109's engine on a turn almost every time. It makes it more difficult and it forces me to because a bit more accurate. I like the fact that it is restricted to its machine guns though and doesnt have cannons. Biggest problem I am having is that I get my speed low enough to land and come in too hard because I start to stall out. Its layout is nice and you can adjust the height to fit your hand. Its a great stick and has more than enough buttons/knobs than I will ever use. I took it back and exchanged it for the one I have in the states. I had to reset all the controls everytime I wanted to play. I took it back and exchanged it for another stick that was a step above but was still not satisfied because it would reprogram itself everytime I plugged it in. I tried it out and it sucked.didnt have a twist grip which was annoying among other things. Honestly I started out with a $20 joystick from Best Buy. I went down to Best Buy and picked mine up. Yep i know what you mean about wanting it yesterday. Have a tinker and get to grips with what effects what, and expect to see your plane nose into oblivion as you float down under your parachute.

it gets rather complicated rather quickly. If ALL the other planes are faster than yours, then you need to adjust your planes 'Trim' characteristics and your propeller pitch angle, then you've got your fuel mixture and 'Blah, Blah'. Handling, fighting or just straight and level flying can all be altered drastically with only minor changes to the realism. what I mean by that is, just by turning on the "G-Force" effects you'll suddenly find you can no longer pull off those 'impossible' maneuvers when dog fighting. If you're used to playing with a lot of the realism 'tweaked' down, then I'd suggest firstly sticking with one plane (whichever one you fly the most) and turning on the features one by one. playing IL-2 on realistic is very tricky indeed. I am just wanting to play on a more realistic level without getting a cannon shell to my canopy every time I fly

Do you guys know of any tactics or maneuvers that were commonly performed in combat or was it more just an adapt to the fight as you go? Any help would be much appreciated. What I have noticed is that when I play on realistic the enemy planes are simply out maneuvering me and are able to out turn me. I know that while flying a BF-109 you need to take the fight vertical and use a fly by type tactic on bombers and that type of stuff. Now I am wanting to learn more about tactics when flying. I have always loved WWII fighters ever since my first airshow and it amazes me the type of skill it takes to fly any fighter in combat. It makes it quite easy to out turn and out fire the enemy and makes for easy kills. I have been playing on a bit of an unrealistic level with unlimited ammo and 0% engine maintenance. I have been playing IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles for a while now.
